Erik ten Hag has fired a message to Marcus Rashford amid criticism of the Manchester United forward this season.

Rashford has registered just one goal across eight appearances in all competitions so far this term.

That came in the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal last month and Rashford will be hoping to get back on the scoresheet when United host Galatasaray on Tuesday evening.

Ten Hag’s side are looking to return to winning ways in the Champions League having lost their opening Group A match to Bayern Munich.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s clash against the Turkish side, Ten Hag was quizzed about Rashford’s poor form and said: ‘The facts are that he is not scoring at this moment.

‘But he has had opportunities, in the game against Brighton he five, six occasions where he was in a very good spot. If he works hard, if he invests, every day and goes every game with the right focus, and if the team around him supply him and help him, support him with movement, then it will come.

‘Marcus Rashford is a player who is capable of always scoring a goal in every game. When he is coming in the right spots he will score.’

Rashford recently revealed that is is looking forward to building up a partnership with summer signing Rasmus Hojlund and feels they can deliver goals together.

‘I just want to understand his game and for him to understand my game as quickly as possible,’ the England international said. ‘So far it has been good and we obviously had the unlucky one at Brighton that got disallowed.

‘I’m sure it is a relationship that will help both players, so I am excited for it, excited for the future and I am also so excited that we have so many games coming up because we have so many opportunities to show who we are.’
