At least six people have died in a fire at a nightclub in Spain, authorities have said.
Police said the blaze broke out in the south-eastern city of Murcia at around 4am this morning.
The fire broke out in the popular Teatre nightclub, located in the Atalayas area.
Authorities say the death toll could rise.
Emergency services are looking for people who are missing and were in the club at the time.
Before it was reported the death tally had reached six, a spokesman for a regional emergency response coordination centre said: ‘At 6am this morning, we began to receive several calls at the Emergency Coordination Centre reporting a fire in a nightclub in the Atalayas area of Murcia.

‘At this moment in time, several teams of Murcia firefighters are at the scene trying to put out the fire.
‘The firefighters have requested the intervention of an emergency response helicopter.
‘Several ambulances are also at the scene to assist the four injured people we are aware of so far.
‘All have suffered smoke inhalation and two have been taken to hospital. The number of dead stands at four.
‘The local police has cordoned off the area.’
The six bodies were discovered after the fire was brought under control.
In a subsequent statement, National Police spokesman Diego Seral said: ‘I can confirm the death of six people in a fire in the Teatre nightclub as a result of a fire in Murcia this morning.
‘It’s too early for us to say how the fire started. That is still under investigation.’
He said the fire broke out on the first floor of the nightclub.
Early reports said the people who lost their lives could be nightclub workers but Mr Seral said: ‘It’s too early for us to say whether this is the case.’
