Adamawa Woman Jailed For Stealing Pot Regains Freedom

Mrs Ramatu Adamu, a food vendor sentenced for 18 months for stealiacng a pot, acooler has regained her freedom in Adamawa state.

The state Jail Delivery Committee discharged and acquitted the suspect at Numan Security Custodial Centre yesterday after she admitted committing the offence because of hunger.

Adamu from Shelleng local government area told the committee that she was a food vendor in Gombe and visited her sister in Numan, where she had committed the crime.

She regretted her action and pleaded with the committee to pardon her so as to enable her return back to Gombe to continue with her business.

The committee, headed by the state’s chief judge, Hapsat Abdulrahaman, discharged and acquitted her and also warned her not to commit any crime again.
