One person has been killed and dozens more injured after a lightning strike at a warehouse caused a huge explosion.
CCTV captured the moment lightning hit a warehouse near Tashkent International Airport in Uzbekistan in the early hours of this morning.
The strike led to a huge explosion, setting fire to the building.
Nearby buildings including flats were also damaged by the blast, with a number of windows shattered, and the nearby Quruvchilar subway station also received minor damage.
The force of the explosion also set off car alarms and rocked buildings as a huge plume of smoke and fire lit up the dark sky.
16 fire crews attended the scene. Uzbekistan’s ministry of emergency situations did not say what was inside the warehouse, but Russian state media Tass reported it contained several dozen electric vehicles and batteries.
Of the injured, 24 people were taken to hospital and another 138 received treatment at the scene and were sent home.
Uzbekistan’s leading medical specialist were called to treat casualties, the country’s health ministry said.
