Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong has congratulated President Bola Tinubu on his victory at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on Wednesday.
DAILY POST recalls that the PEPT on Wednesday struck out the petition filed by Peter Obi of the Labour Party and that of his counterpart in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, challenging the election of Tinubu on February 25.
The court held that the petition from the parties and their candidates had no merit.
Reacting, Lalong, a former governor of Plateau State, in a statement issued on Thursday via his X account, said he was not surprised at the tribunal’s verdict.
According to him, Tinubu and the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, had “immense popularity” across the country during the campaign.
The statement reads partly, “I am thrilled to congratulate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his triumph at the Presidential Elections Petition Court.
“Having served as the former Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, I wasn’t surprised by the Court’s decision to affirm the President and Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima’s election.
“During my time as Director General of the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Council, I witnessed the immense popularity of their ticket among the Nigerian electorate, who provided massive support to the APC and its candidates across the entire nation.
“This verdict from the Election Petition Court validates the mandate bestowed upon the President and his Vice to deliver the Renewed Hope Agenda to the people of Nigeria, setting our country on the path of growth and prosperity.
“I must note that President Tinubu has wasted no time and has already taken bold measures to bolster the economy and empower our citizens”.
