Manchester City are aiming to beat rivals Manchester United and Liverpool to the signature of Brighton star Evan Ferguson.

The Irishman has attracted interest from the top six following his sensational breakthrough at Brighton.

The 18-year-old netted ten goals in 24 appearances last season, which earned him a new long-term deal on the south coast.

But Ferguson’s hit four goals in four appearances already this campaign, including a hat-trick against Newcastle last weekend.

Despite selling Moises Caicedo for a British transfer record and a host of other players for huge fees, Brighton believe Ferguson’s exit will top the lot.

There is so much interest in the forward, who has been heavily likened to Harry Kane for his playing style.

United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal have all registered their interest in the Republic of Ireland ace.

But thei say City are – perhaps surprisingly – also interested.

Despite boasting Erling Haaland, Pep Guardiola feels he could play Ferguson in attack with the Norwegian.

That’s a scary prospect for Premier League defences, given Ferguson has years of growth left in his game.

The teenager could be worth around £150m by the time Brighton decide to cash in, continuing the Seagulls’ excellent track record of producing and selling top talent.
