The acting Chairman of the Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jarrett Tenebe, has defended the Governor Monday Okpebholo’s
gaffes while presenting the state’s appropriation bill to the House of Assembly on Tuesday.
Governor Okpebholo had on Tuesday, while presenting the estimated budget for the 2025 fiscal year at the State House of Assembly, struggled with the budget figures and stuttered severally while trying to relay the figures.
In a video that went viral across various social media platforms, Okpebholo was heard stuttering while unveiling the bill as he tried to pronounce the N605 billion mark.
While presenting the Appropriation Bill titled “Budget of Renewed Hope for a Rising Edo,” Okpebholo struggled with the pronunciation of the budget’s numerical value.
“The Edo State 2025 Appropriation Bill of 6 billion… 650… 605 billion… 76 thou… 76 million…
“Let me take it again. 506 billion… 605 billion… sorry… 776 billion… sorry, it’s confusing me,” the governor said.

The aftermath of the drama played out with many making mockery of the Edo governor but Tenebe, in defence of Okpebholo, went into an attack mode and told anyone who criticized him to “go to hell and burn to ashes.”
In a video message, Tenebe said:
“Anybody who doesn’t like our governor because he couldn’t pronounce figure should go to hell and burn into ashes.”
Not done with the curses, Tenebe said the reason Okpebholo found it difficult pronouncing the figures was because he is not a thief unlike immediate past Governor Godwin Obaseki who he labelled a thief who stole the state funds during his time as governor.
