The Pan-Northern socio-political organization, Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), has described the late former Minister of Power and Steel in the Second Republic, Dr. Paul Unongo, as a colossus, and his death at age 87 as a loss not only to Benue and the North but to the entire country.
Unongo, who was a Deputy Chairman of the Northern Elders Forum, hailed from Jato Aka in Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State.
This was contained in a statement by the ACF’s Secretary-General, Malam Murtala Aliyu.
The umbrella body of the North described the late Unongo as “a patriotic Nigerian, a person who dedicated his entire life to the service of his people and humanity.”
“The Arewa Consultative Forum wishes to commiserate on the demise of its member and the Deputy Chairman of the Northern Elders Forum, Elder Statesman Wantaregh Paul Unongo, OFR, with the family, the entire people of Benue State, the North, and the country at large,” the statement partly read.
