Yobe State House of Assembly has given accelerated considerations to the 2025 finance and appropriation bills.
The bill which was presented by the state Governor, Mai Mala Buni, scaled through the second reading on the floor of the House after extensive deliberations by members.
This was after it passed first reading on Thursday shortly after Governor Buni presented the 2025 finance and appropriation bill to the House.
Leading the debate on the bill, the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Nasiru Hassan Yusuf said the constitution empowered the House to scrutinize the budget estimate to ensure due process.
Yusuf said the bill, when passed into law, will enable the executive arm of government to provide more dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
Presiding over the sitting, the speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Chiroma Buba Mashio commended the state governor, Mai mala Buni for timely presentation of the 2025 finance and appropriation bill to the House and assured of the speedy passage.
Mashio committed the bill to the House committee on finance and appropriation to work on it and report back to the House for further legislative action.
In another development, the House has passed the bill for the establishment of the state Bureau of Statistics.
The House passed the bill into law after the amendment of some parts of the original draft bill which was presented by the executive arm of government.
