A lawyer, Dejo Adeyanju, has on behalf of assaulted cab driver, Stephen Abuwatseya, petitioned the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun over the action of a House of Representatives member from Abia State, Alexander Mascot Ikwechegh.
The chambers of Deji Adeyanju and Partners said the IGP should prosecute Ikwechegh for “grievous assault, abuse of power, attempted murder, and threat to life”.
Parts of the petition signed by Marvin Omorogbe, a founding Partner, read: “We kindly request that you cause an investigation into the issues raised with a view to prosecuting Hon. Alex Mascot Ikwechegh.”
Abuwatseya had suffered an assault while delivering a package to the lawmaker at his residence in the Maitama area of Abuja.
Ikwechegh threatened to make the cab driver disappear, noting that ‘nothing will happen’.
The Rep member also threatened to beat up the cabman and lock him up in his generator house.
