A BRIT has been killed in a horror pickup truck crash in southern Thailand leaving his new husband in in a state of shock.
Bryn Adrian Whalley, 57, from Ashton-on-Ribble, Preston, married his boyfriend from Thailand less than a year ago after taking early retirement from the London Stock Exchange.

Whalley was driving his pickup in Nakhon Si Thammarat in southern Thailand on October 21 when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle.
He smashed into an electricity post and the blue Isuzu ended up in a ditch beside a bend in the road in the early hours of the morning.
Despite being rescued by paramedics from the Phetkasem Foundation, he died the following day from a severe headwound he suffered during the crash.
The emergency crew found Whalley in the mangled pick-up alive but bleeding heavily after receiving a report of the crash at 1:14 am.
A rescue officer said: “His body and legs were stuck in the vehicle, so we could not immediately remove him. We brought cutting equipment to pry him loose. It took around 15 minutes.
“We found him unconscious, with a large wound on his head around eight inches long.
“He was given CPR and rushed in an ambulance to Sichon Hospital.”
The Brit was then taken to the Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital where he died of his injuries at 3:42 pm on October 22.
Whalley’s husband, Thanat Worakulritthidamrong, 47, revealed that the pair got married in December 2023 after a year-long whirlwind romance.
“I’m still in shock that Bryn has gone,” he said.
“We had been through a lot together and I loved him.
“All my dreams came true when we were married. He was a very, very good person.”
A close friend of Whalley detailed how he would often take to driving if he was stressed out, but noted that he was a good driver and knew the roads well.
“I’m not sure what happened because he drove along that road quite often. He was familiar with it. It’s possible he dozed off while driving but we don’t know,” Khwanchai Chaiphian, 50, said.
“He was a very experienced driver and he was familiar with the roads. The crash doesn’t make any sense.”
Police who attended the scene noted that there were no signs that Whalley had been drinking before the crash though he “may have lost control due to reckless driving.”
“He was a very friendly, sweet and generous person. He was one of my closest friends,” Chaiphian added.
Thanat has organised a Buddhist funeral for his late husband.
“We moved his body from the Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital to the Wat Kradang Nga temple for the funeral rites,” the grieving widower explained.
Whalley is to be cremated with some of his ashes being scattered at the ceremony and the rest to return to the UK, “which is what he wanted,” Thanat said.
Along with the shock of his husband’s sudden death, Thanat is also grieving for the plans that they had made for the future.
He revealed that their short marriage had not yet become official in Thailand, which they were hoping to sort out soon.
“I will not receive any of Bryn’s possessions because we were married before it was legally recognised in Thailand,” Thanat said.
“We had hoped to do that sometime in the future.”
The country has one of the worst road safety records in the world with 32.7 deaths per 100,000.
