Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum has approved the appointment of Alhaji Dauda Iliya as his official spokesperson and Special Adviser on Media.
The appointment follows the demise of Mallam Isa Gusau who until his death in February 2024 served as the governor’s spokesperson.
The governor’s approval was announced in a statement on Friday by his SSA on New Media, Abdurrahman Ahmed Bundi.
Dauda Iliya is currently the Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Borno State Chapter.
He hails from Kwaya-Kusar Local Government Area in the southern part of Borno State.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in English Linguistics from the University of Maiduguri and later obtained his master’s in Mass Communications from the same University in 2024. He has attended numerous professional courses and trainings.
The new appointee is a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Union of Journalists and the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters.
