A faction of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned what it described as “motor park approach” of members of another faction of the party.
Ibrahim Manga, the acting spokesperson of the PDP, who spoke on the crisis during a media chat in Abuja on Monday, said “It is distasteful that party members, who should be educating others, are making comments that contradict the party’s constitution”.
The PDP has been embroiled in an internal crisis since 2022, with the NWC polarized, leading to the Damagum-backed faction suspending Kamaldeen Ajibade, the national legal adviser, and Debo Ologunagba, the national spokesperson.
In a swift reaction, the other faction suspended Umar Damagum, the acting national chairman, and Samuel Anyanwu, the national secretary, over alleged anti-party activities.
And then in a dramatic twist, Ologunagba’s faction announced Yayari Mohammed as the party’s acting national chairman on Friday.

But, in a judgment delivered via Zoom, a federal high court in Abuja restrained the national executive committee (NEC) and the board of trustees (BoT) from removing Damagum as acting national chairman until the party’s convention in December 2025.
Speaking further, Manga, emphasized that Damagum remains the authentic acting national chairman, and expressed disappointment in colleagues’ “motor park” approach to the suspension, aimed at clearing allegations against them.
Manga warned that security agencies would enforce the court order, citing reckless violation. “In the face of this reckless violation of a subsisting court order, we are hereby left with no option but to deploy the services of security agencies in the enforcement of the rule of law.”
The PDP Governors’ Forum and BoT members were commended for seeking an amicable solution to the crisis. As the internal power struggle continues, the party’s unity and stability hang in the balance.
