The Nigeria Police Force NPF has urged parents to warn their children against partaking in the October 1st, 2024 mass protest.
This was contained in a statement from Jigawa State Police Command signed by its spokesman DSP. Lawan Shiisu Adam.
The statement reads, “Despite the fact that no letter or request has been received by the command from any individual or group wishing to hold a demonstration throughout the state on October 1, 2024.
“However, policemen and other security agents will be deployed aggressively, as well as necessary logistics, to all nooks and crannies of the state, particularly in the major cities, to safeguard both public and private properties such as wirehouses, malls, supermarkets, parks, government installations, and other critical infrastructures to avoid being vandalized or looted, or disruption of public peace by criminally minded people who may take advantage to infiltrate or hijack it.
“The Command is making significant efforts to locate protest leaders and hold in-depth discussions in order to promote peace and dialogue.”
The Command urged parents and guardians to strongly advise their children against participating in the protest, stating that anyone found wanting will face severe consequences.
