Edo guber: INEC begins distribution of electoral materials

From Tony Osauzo, Benin

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday morning commenced the distribution of sensitive electoral materials to the 18 Local Government Areas of Edo State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

The exercise is being carried out on the premises of the Central Bank of Nigeria in Benin.

At the time of filing this report, hired vehicles to convey the materials to various locations were already stationed beside the CBN in an area closed to commercial activities. Buses were however allowed to ply one way to enter and exit the area.

Hundreds of reporters from both print and online media were at the venue to capture the distribution exercise.

Confirming the distribution of the materials, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Onuoha Anugbum, who also supervised the exercise, said, “Yes, we are here, we have commenced the distribution of sensitive materials to the local government area.”
