Governor Buni Receives FG, APC, Gombe Delegations Over Mafa Attack

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has received a high-powered federal government delegation led by the minister of Finance Mr. Wale Edun who were in the state on a sympathy visit to commiserate with the government and people over the recent insurgency attack on Mafa community.

A statement by the director general Press Affairs and Media to the Governor Alhaji Mamman Mohammed said the Minister Mr. Edun, has while speaking said they were in the Yobe to convey the message of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the government and people of the state.

Edun said security of lives and property remains a top most priority of the Bola Tinubu administration adding that FG is working to revamp the economy, and attract local and foreign investors to create job opportunities for Nigerians.

The National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, who was also on the entourage assured that, the end of terrorism and Banditry in Nigeria is getting much closer.

“The security agencies have been so wonderful, making a lot of sacrifices to safeguard lives and property in the country.

“What we are now seeing is the beginning of the end, it is just a matter of time, the entire country will be secured.”

Governor Buni expressed appreciation for the visit, saying, “the government and people of Yobe state have by this visit been given a sense of belonging”.

In another development, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by the National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, were in Damaturu to commiserate with the government and people of Yobe state over the unfortunate attack on Mafa village by the Boko Haram insurgents.

Dr Ganduje said “We are part of the Yobe family, we feel the pain and sorrow suffered by the government and people of Yobe state, and we are here to condole with our brothers and sisters over this very sad incident” Ganduje said.

Governor Buni commended the NCW for identifying with the government and people of the state over the sad and unfortunate incident.

“On behalf of the government and good people of Yobe state, l thank you and appreciate you for coming,” Gov. Buni said.

Similarly, Governor Buni has received a delegation from the Gombe State Government where they presented a donation of Fifty Million Naira to Yobe state government in support of its efforts to provide succor to the victims of the Mafa insurgency attack, and the flooding across the state.

Gombe State Deputy Governor, Mr Manesiah Daniel Jatau, who represented Governor Inuwa Yahaya, described the attack on the community as sad and unfortunate.

“We share with you the double tragedy of the attack on the community and the floods that claimed some lives, swept away houses and farmlands” he said.

Governor Mai Mala Buni commended the Gombe state government for standing with the government and people of Yobe state and the donation over the attack.
