Disturbing footage has emerged of ‘Monster of Avignon’ Dominique Pélicot, getting caught by police upskirting in a French supermarket.

Dominique Pélicot, 71, is currently on trial after being accused of inviting 72 men he met online to rape his wife Gisèle in their home in the village of Mazan, southern France, over a nine-year period.

Pelicot would secretly lace his wife’s dinner with anxiety-reducing drugs so she would remain unconscious after falling asleep, prosecutors say.

The elderly man is on trial at the Vaulcuse Criminal Court in Avignon, with 51 of the alleged rapists, aged between 26 and 73.

French magazine Paris Match has since released disturbing footage of Mr Pélicot being caught by police taking videos up women’s skirts, in a supermarket in south-eastern France in 2020.

The footage, that was filmed on September 12, 2020, shows Pélicot wearing a face mask as he aims the camera up the skirts of victims in the Leclerc store.

As Pélicot is confronted by a security guard following complaints from ‘four clients’, a woman can be heard exclaiming ‘no, no, no’.

He is then called ‘disgusting’ and told ‘not to move’ as authorities are on the way.

Pélicot was originally fined €100, or £85, as a part of a plea-bargaining process, before investigators found a folder on his device labelled ‘abuse’ which contained thousands of incriminating photographs and videos allegedly of his unconscious wife being raped.

Gisèle faced her former husband in court for the first time last week, where she said she wanted to ‘disappear’ after finding out about the horrific abuse.

‘I only wanted one thing and that was to disappear,’ she told the court. ‘I told myself: ”I am going to get in my car with my dog and end it all.”

‘When I told my sons about this, I don’t think they really understood, they were withdrawn… I think they were in a state of shock. They said: ”Don’t say such silly things”.

‘[That] evening, the children rang all the time saying ”don’t disappear”… they were worried I might die.’

Labelled as ‘one of the world’s worst sexual predators’, his daughter-in-law has also claimed he tried to get his young granddaughter to pose naked for him.

Speaking in court last week, Aurore Lemaire, 37, recalled the harrowing moment her daughter had asked her grandfather to buy her a toy.

‘I’d be very happy to get it for you if you pose naked for me’, he allegedly propositioned.

The trial continues.
