TEMPLEGATE takes on Saturday’s racing looking to build the bank for York Ebor next weekend.

SUMMERGHAND (3.15 Ripon, nap)
He can make it third time lucky in this hot handicap. He may be nine but the David O’Meara flyer still has plenty of petrol in his tank. He often takes a few races to get going and looked ready to strike when a close-up fourth in a big field at York last time. The winner that day took the Stewards’ Cup so the form looks strong. The tip has gone close both times he’s tackled this race and is off a much lower mark now.
WOOLHAMPTON (2.25 Newbury, nb)
She was impressive when winning at Ascot last time where the little bit of juice in the ground was right up her street. She even had time to drift slightly off straight inside the final furlong and still clock a very sharp time for the grade. Rod Milman’s filly looks capable of improving again and we know this trip is ideal.
KEMARI (1.50 Newbury, treble)
He got the job done well in Listed company at Newmarket last time and will enjoy this step up in distance. That was just his second start of the campaign so Charlie Appleby’s hope should be nice and fresh. He’s a Group 2 winner at best and can show his quality.

KEMARI got the job done well in Listed company at Newmarket last time and will enjoy this step up in distance.
That was just his second start of the campaign so Charlie Appleby’s hope should be nice and fresh.
He’s a Group 2 winner at best and can show his quality.
Klondike is having just his fourth run and was far from disgraced in the Bahrain Trophy on the July course last time.
He seemed to stay this testing distance there and William Haggas’s horses have run back into prime form. Shandoz is interesting coming back from 656 days off.
He progressed through the ranks before his break, winning some nice handicaps before taking a Kempton Listed prize.
He saw out 1m4f well and should have no issue with this hike in distance.
This son of Golden Horn is entitled to need this but a market move would be interesting.
Arrest won the Chester Vase in the mud before being sent off favourite for the Derby where he was only tenth.
He was below par again at Royal Ascot but has his sights lowered now. This ground should suit better and the lower grade could see him bounce back.

Stablemate Four Adaay is only 1lb higher than her win at Newmarket in June.
She’s run four times since then and never been far away. She’s right in the hunt with Oisin Murphy on board. #
Swift Asset has been in fine form and followed a Bath with with a tight second there.
A repeat of that form will take him close despite a 6lb rise in the weights.
Libra Tiger was third three times before getting his head in front at Sandown when dropped to this trip.
He goes on any ground and will be a danger despite going up the weights.
Harry Brown has been better on the all-weather so far but ran better than eighth suggests at Ascot latest.
Fantasy Master didn’t fire at York last time but earlier scored at Doncaster and can’t be dismissed.

TOP SECRET can go one better than his Salisbury second last time.
He hit the front a bit early there and was collared inside the final furlong.
Dropping back to this distance is a plus and he can cope with a 2lb rise in the weights.
Open Mind likes this trip as he showed when winning at Meydan earlier this year.
He ran up to that level when a tight third at Chelmsford on the all-weather latest but he won’t mind if there’s still any juice left in the ground.
Hectic finished like a train to hit the frame over this distance at Newmarket 14 days ago.
He’s back off the same mark with a 5lb claimer on board which gives him every chance.
Classic was in good form at Sandown last time, winning with a bit up his sleeve.
He is best over this trip on any ground and warrants respect on this step up in class.
Accidental Agent was just over a length off the pace at Chepstow and is best at this trip. He’s dropped to 6lb lower than his last win.
Hectic wasn’t beaten far on the July course latest and has place claims if able to build on that.

JUMBY was impressive when winning this race 12 months ago and can score again.
He comes here in fine form having taken Group 3 honours at Haydock before another good effort on the July course where he was defeated by the draw.
This distance is ideal and he gets on well with today’s rider Charles Bishop.
Chindit drops in grade after a respectable sixth in the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot when last seen.
He was second in the Lockinge here two starts ago and a repeat of that would take him very close.
Witch Hunter took a big handicap at Royal Ascot over this trip and has been holding his own in Group and Listed races.
He needs more to score but looks a big each-way price.
At his best, Marbaan would be dangerous. He was a little unlucky to finish only third in the Lennox Stakes at Glorious Goodwood and this is his best distance.
It’s still early days for Mostabshir who wasn’t disgraced in the St James’s Palace Stakes although he was below that level in a Newmarket Listed race last time.
It’s interesting to see the Gosdens drop him in distance here.
NEWMARKET

CELTIC CHAMPION looks a potential improver for Andrew Balding. He scored on turf over this trip at Salisbury last season and was last seen winning nicely on the all-weather at Lingfield.
He’s back from a break but the yard is in form and he should be capable of outrunning this handicap mark.
Magical Max battled back once headed to score here last time and will be a threat.
A 5lb rise in the weights means he needs to find more but he has a good apprentice in Harry Burns up top.
Last year’s winner Strike is only 3lb higher than when winning this race 12 months ago.
It won’t be easy from his high draw but we know trip and track are both ideal.
Divine Libra loved it soft when winning over this distance at Chester before an excellent third here last time.
He is back off the same mark and will be a major player despite his stall 15 draw.
Mitrosonfire took this two years ago and was a close-up third here before a modest effort in the red-hot International Stakes at Ascot. This is more his level.
RIPON

HOLBACHE should be spot-on for this after his rusty comeback at York last month.
Tony Carroll’s sprinter tanked along until his lack of match fitness told in the closing stages.
He’s had a little nudge down the weights and should be a lot fitter today over a trip he likes.
Fortamour was beaten in a photo here last time and has an excellent track record with three victories.
He is very well handicapped if finding anything like his best form.
Roundhay Park has winning form here and scored at York in decent company last month.
He was better than seventh place suggests at Redcar latest and has solid place claims.
Mark’s Choice has dropped below the mark that saw him land his most recent win here this time last season.
He would prefer slightly quicker ground but trainer Adrian Keatley’s in decent form.
Alice Bond takes 7lb off Prince Of Bel Lir who was in winning form at Salisbury three Saturdays ago.
He has gone up 5lb for that but had plenty in hand and could easily figure.
Thornaby Pearl won here last month before a fair run at Nottingham where the ground may have been too soft. He’s another for the shortlist.

Dream For Gold keeps it simple from the front and has gone close in good company on his past two starts.
His neck second at Newmarket last time was particularly good and, as a three-year-old, there should be more to come.

This trip suits and she’s on the shortlist.
Cairn Gorm won a shade cosily at York in a big field and a 4lb rise in the weights gives him a chance.
Monsieur Kodi would love more rain as he enjoyed the testing conditions when winning at Goodwood two Saturdays ago.
Raatea didn’t fire on the all-weather at Newcastle but scored nicely at Haydock before that and was fifth in a big Newmarket handicap earlier this season.
