The National Productivity Centre, Abuja, has trained no fewer than 100 women and youths in Ondo State in digital marketing in a bid to expose them to modern marketing systems through information and communication technology.
The programme was facilitated and sponsored by the office of the Senator representing Ondo North Senatorial District, Jide Ipinsagba.
In a statement issued by the media aide of the senator, Yinka Ajagunna on Wednesday, the training which was held in Ikare Akoko, the headquarters of Akoko North-East Local Government Area of the state, was concluded on Friday.
According to the statement, the participants were given laptops and money at the end of the training for them to start their own businesses.
Also, the participants, who were drawn from the six local government areas of the senatorial district, were taught topics in digital marketing which included social media marketing, search engine optimization, and e-commerce among others.
Addressing the participants, Senator Ipinsagba, who was represented by his Legislative Aide, Prince Olusola Aladetimehin said the initiative, which was second in the series and was part of his commitment to enhancing the economic prospects of his constituents, particularly youths and women.
He said, ” The digital marketing training program is designed to bridge the skills gap and foster economic growth in Ondo North Senatorial District.
“The participants were equipped with the knowledge and skills required to thrive in the digital economy and were given laptops and take-off grants.
“This is the second in the series and it is part of my commitment to enhancing the economic prospects of my people in Ondo North Senatorial District, particularly youths and women.”
