Senator To Empower 1,000 Abia Youths With Skills

Senator Austin Akobundu (Abia Central) has concluded plans to train 1,000  youths in the district in digital marketing, graphic design, web development, UI/UX design, cyber security, and forex trading this month.

Akobundu announced this at the end of a two-week intensive training programme in computer software for 400 under-18 secondary school students in the district in Umuahia, the state capital.

Tagged “Build-a-Thorn” the training was organized by Senator Austin Akobundu Foundation in partnership with an indigenous firm, Innovation Growth Hub Computers, and the  Federal of Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy.

Speaking at the occasion, the Peoples Democratic Party senator said he had always been passionate about education and empowering people through knowledge for gainful employment and self-reliance.

“This passion led me to sponsor 113 teachers at the National Teachers Institute because I believe in the power of training and seeing individuals grow. My commitment to this course does not stop there,’ he said.

 

He said, “These efforts are part of my strategy to make the district viable and technologically advanced. My vision is for the district to be a leader in innovation and a hub for technological advancement in the country.”
