Man Utd flop Eric Bailly offered unlikely exit route out of Old Trafford as Premier League rivals consider transfer

ERIC BAILLY is reportedly set to be offered a surprise Premier League lifeline.

The defender, 29, joined Manchester United from Villarreal in 2016 and was a key figure under former managers Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

But injury problems have plagued him over recent years at Old Trafford and he was shipped out on loan to Ligue 1 side Marseille last term after being deemed surplus to requirements by boss Erik Ten Hag.

Ivory Coast international Bailly, who has a year left on his £80,000-a-week deal, was widely expected to leave United as they look to raise funds by shipping out some of the deadwood at the club.

He had been in advanced talks to link up with former team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr but the deal now looks to be off.

Bailly was in talks to terminate his contract ahead of a free transfer move but we reported how he had allegedly demanded a loyalty bonus owed to him of £600k – which the Red Devils were unwilling to pay

Al-Nassr have turned their attention to signing Manchester City’s Aymeric Laporte instead while Besiktas, who were keen earlier in the window, have cooled talks to sign him.

Now the Daily Mail have claimed that Fulham “have asked” about Bailly.

Marco Silva’s side are now apparently looking to make him their fourth summer signing.

They have already brought in Raul Jimenez, Calvin Bassey and Adama Traore.

Now, if they can resolve the financial issues holding up his exit, Bailly could also be coming in to bolster his backline.

Fulham started the campaign with a 1-0 win at Everton.

They are next in action at home to Brentford on Saturday before travelling to Arsenal the following week.
