Kebbi State government has pledged continued support to the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) and other higher institutions in the state in its mission to provide quality education.
The assurance was given by Governor Nasir Idris during a courtesy visit by the Governing Council of FUBK at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi yesterday.
The governor who was represented by his deputy, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, emphasised strong commitment to education, highlighting his background as a former teacher.
He underscored the importance of education as a cornerstone to success and societal development, saying, “Our administration is committed to supporting the university in achieving its core mandate.”
Governor Idris also recognised the strong relationship between the university and the state government, saying directives had been issued to expedite the certification of the university’s land through the commissioner and permanent secretary of the ministry for lands.
Chairman and Pro-Chancellor of FUBK’s Governing Council, Alhaji Abubakar Jatau, expressed gratitude on behalf of the university for the consistent support from the state government.
He noted the significant contributions of the government, including the donation of the land on which the university is built and an additional vast land for which certification is pending.
