Norway’s Royal Family has been rocked by scandal after the Crown Princess’ eldest son was accused of assaulting his ex.

Marius Borg Høiby is the stepson of the heir to the throne, Crown Prince Haakon, and is the son of Mette-Marit from a previous relationship, but has no royal title.

The 27-year-old spent 30 hours in police custody after being arrested outside the royal residence at Skaugum Castle.

He is facing allegations of ‘psychologically and physically’ attacking his girlfriend, who has not been identified and damaging her Oslo flat, reported the Norwegian Se og Hør magazine.

Now, crime scene pictures published by the magazine this week have shown the damage to her home.

A shattered chandelier can be seen lying on the ground and a chef’s knife stabbed in a wall in the bedroom.

It is reported that the victim managed to push Høiby out of the flat and called the police. After collecting evidence, officers rushed her to the emergency room.

Citing audio material, the magazine said that he threatened the woman to set her clothes on fire after the attack.

Further alleged evidence has been discovered in the last week since Wednesday’s arrest.

Police said at the time that there was a ‘relationship between the suspect and the victim.’

In a statement, officers said they ‘currently do not have information that the victim has suffered serious injuries.’

Prince Haakon told Norwegian reporters that ‘it is a serious matter when police are involved in the way they are, but at the same time it is not right for me to go into the details of the case.’

Høiby lives with the royal couple and their two children – Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus.

Norway’s future queen made headlines in 2001 when she married the prince as she was a single mother who had lived a freewheeling life with a companion who had been convicted on drug charges.
