Detective Karli Travis arrived to the scene at 6:33am on August 12th, when she was approached by Tate.

Body-cam footage showed Tate stepping out of the home while carrying a blunt object in his hand.

The detective asked him: “Can you put that down, please?”

Tate yelled back: “No.”

As detective Travis began radioing for backup, Tate suddenly charged towards her with the hammer in hand.

She attempted to back away and distance herself as Tate yelled out: “Call your f*****g team!”

Travis was heard pleading with the madman to stop before shooting her weapon several times as the brutal attack continued.

Tate tackled her to the ground and continued to beat her as she desperately screamed at him to stop.

After firing more shots, police said Tate retreated inside his home, wounded.

Additional police officers arrived soon after and surrounded the residence, before taking Tate into custody.

He was treated by medics and transported to a local hospital by ambulance, and was released two days later.

Detective Travis was injured during the incident and also released after being treated at another hospital.

Tate was reportedly charged with criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault, second-degree assault, assault on public safety personnel, and interfering with police.

He was held on a £392,000 bond and is set to appear in court October 3.

Last month, a group of police officers trying to help a stabbing victim were mobbed and attacked with a hammer.

One officer was struck by a hammer-wielding thug, the Metropolitan Police confirmed.

TikTok video from the scene showed a number of police cars parked near Cranford Community College with blue lights flashing.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at about 8.15pm on Saturday, July 1 to reports of a stabbing close to High Street in Cranford.

“Officers attended and found a 31-year-old man with a slash wound. Whilst attempting to treat the man, officers were confronted by a large group of people.

“One officer was injured after being struck with a hammer. He was taken to hospital where he was treated for a broken arm.”
