A search is underway for a teenage boy who went missing after getting into difficulty while swimming.
Shortly before 5.30pm yesterday, a 16-year-old boy reportedly had trouble swimming at Burnside Lakes, Cambridge.
Specialist teams were called in but there has been no sign of the boy since he disappeared.
A police spokesperson said: ‘It is believed the boy, who is 16 and from the Essex area, was swimming in the lake with a group of friends when he got into difficulty.
‘Search teams remain at the lake to find the boy and we ask that members of the public stay away from the area while this work is carried out. The boy’s family are aware.’

Burnside lakes are former chalk pits which closed in the 1950s. It is not open to the public for swimming.
Yesterday was the UK’s hottest day of the year, with temperatures reaching 34.8°C.
