A Met Police officer has been charged with possessing and sharing CCTV images involving the rape of a young woman.
PC Adam Aspinall Da Encarnacao has been suspended from duty ahead of his appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Earlier this week, the Crown Prosecution Service authorised two charges of misconduct in public office, the Metropolitan Police said.
They added: ‘These relate to inappropriately possessing and sharing CCTV images concerning the alleged rape of one woman and the rape of another.
‘One of the women is Natalie Patricia Shotter, 37, who died in Southall Park on July 17, 2021. We have informed Natalie’s family of the charge against PC Aspinall Da Encarnacao and our thoughts and sympathies remain with them for their loss and for the impact this news will have.
‘We have also informed the second woman. The matter is being investigated by professional standards officers. PC Aspinall Da Encarnacao was arrested on 12 September 2022 and immediately suspended from duty.’
The mum of Natalie previously accused the Metropolitan Police of misogyny over claims two officers decided not to check on her vulnerable daughter before she was found dead in a park.
Natalie, who left behind a 21-month-old daughter and two sons aged 15 and 14, was pronounced dead upon being discovered in a park.
