Putin rattled after Ukraine launches cross-border attack inside Russia

Vladimir Putin has blasted a Ukrainian cross-border attack into the region of Kursk as a ‘major provocation’.

Russia has deployed reserve soldiers to ‘repel’ about 300 Ukrainian troops from several settlements.

There are unconfirmed reports that Ukraine has captured 11 villages in the last 24 hours and has advanced about 10 miles inside Russia.

So far, these claims are circulating on Russian pro-war channels on Telegram, and have not been commented on by either side.

The acting governor of the region, Alexey Smirnov, said on Wednesday that he had reported to the president on the situation after the surprise incursion.

‘The situation in the region is under control,’ he said.
