Heathrow and Gatwick flights cancelled as RAC issues ‘do not drive’ warning over weather

UK summer holiday travel faces another eventful day as flights were axed at London airports while motorists were told to avoid driving in the thunderstorm.

Thunderstorm and even hail is expected to sweep across parts of the UK after the Met Office weather warning.

If you were planning to hit the road, the motoring expert RAC said drivers should delay their journey until the storm passes.

Passengers due to depart from Heathrow and Gatwick have woken up to cancellations after a number of flights were axed from both airports during the busiest summer holiday season.
