Peev was allegedly battered to death with a dumbell some days before he was then cut into pieces and flushed down a loo.
His killers reportedly had been unable to dispose of his skull and some of the large bones – so buried them instead.
The millonaire investor is reported to have been a regular at society parties before he was murdered.
It is believed he met his alleged killer, former bartender Vesco Valchinov, while attending one of these events.
He was reportedly murdered at some stage between August 8 and 9 in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.
And parts of his remains were discovered by plumbers called to clear a blocked drain.
Prosecutors and the Ministry of the Interior held a joint press conference saying that Christian’s cousin filed a report on August 10.
The investigators reached the scene of the crime after checking the two phones of the missing person.
They said: “All contacts he had on the day he was last seen were checked.
“One of them was with his friend Vesco Valchinov.
“A camera was seized from the block where the suspect lives and it was established that he and Christian entered the entrance in the late afternoon of August 8”.
Another man, named Konstantin Subotinov, allegedly helped the killer hide the dismembered corpse of the victim.
When he was detained he reportedly admitted that he helped the killer to hide the parts of the victim’s body by taking some of them with his car to Vitosha and burying them there.
He buried the head and skeleton – and flushed away chopped up parts of the body.
Valchinov was arrested after fleeing to a hotel in Vitosha, but his location was tracked on his phone and he was arrested on Sunday.
Christian graduated in the US, had a lot of money and regularly took his friends out to bars, and that’s how he met with his alleged killer some five years ago.
According to local media, Peev even helped Valchinov do business with cryptocurrency so the investigators suspect that the motive of the murder is related to money.
The investigation is ongoing.
