We’re well and truly in the post-Glastonbury slump, so there’s perhaps no better time to get booking up your next instalment of festival fun.
Introducing Valley Fest in Somerset – also known as Chew Fest – which is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful festivals in the UK, and less than an hour’s drive from Glastonbury.
Held in Chew Valley Lake, a reservoir in Somerset – which is the fifth largest lake in the country – on August 1 to 4, revellers can enjoy headline performances from the likes of Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Tinie Tempah, The Feeling and Sister Sledge.
Just like Glastonbury – albeit on a much smaller scale – DJ sets will also boom into the night with mixes from Phil Hartnoll, Mungo’s Hi Fi, Chainska Brassika and Supalung.
In the day, Chew Valley also sees an array of comedy performances, cooking classes and street food vans, with guests including Romy Gill MBE.
Regenerative farmer Luke Hasell set up the festival ten years ago in honour of his parents.

‘Eclectic as ever – from pop to rock, disco to DJs and everything in between, everyone needs to get on my land and celebrate our big birthday,’ he told Jam Press ahead of the 2024 weekend.
‘Packed with wholesome fun, families – you’ll find something for your toddlers, teens, parents and grandparents.’
The views are simply stunning, as pictures of the site have been unearthed on social media in recent days in the run up to August.
Alongside a snap from the 2023 festivities, Matt Sherring wrote: ‘Can’t wait, the most beautiful festival in the UK by far!!’
Through Chew Fest, owner Luke has raised over £70,000 for charity and partnered with Yeo Valley and art collective Arcadia, who both used to be supporters of Glastonbury.

He’s aiming to add an educational element this year with talks on regenerative farming, demonstrations on how to look after the land and soil, and welding workshops for all ages.
Meanwhile, Arcadia’s Alchemist Playground will offer the opportunity to create, build and construct items from recycled military materials.
At night, a Rolls Royce jet engine called an Afterburner will fire up, producing flames and performances.
All this happens nine miles away from both Bristol and Bath, and tickets cost £154.99 plus booking fee.
