Selena Gomez, comedy series ‘The Bear’, and drama series ‘Shogun’, shattered records as organisers announced the nominees for the 76th Emmys on Wednesday.
Actress and songstress, Selena Gomez earned her first-ever acting Emmy nomination.
She received nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her portrayal of Mabel in ‘Only Murders In The Building.’
Gomez also became the most Emmy-nominated Latina producer nominated under the ‘Best Comedy Series’ category for her contributions as EP on Hulu‘s ‘Only Murders In The Building.’
She was previously nominated twice for a group Emmy Award (2022-2023) in the Outstanding Comedy Series category for ‘Only Murders In The Building’ as an executive producer.
Fans’ favourite, ‘The Bear’ broke the record for the most nominations in a single year in the comedy category with 23 nods.
The record was previously held by ’30 Rock’ with 22 nominations in 2009.
‘Shogun’ led this year’s Drama category with an impressive 25 nominations.
Nigerian-American actress, Ayo Edebiri earned a nomination for ‘Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.’
She will contest the category with other superstars like Quinta Brunson, Maya Rudolph, Kristen Wiig, Jean Smart, and Selena Gomez.
Meanwhile, Selena Gomez has relished her 2024 Emmy nominations.
Sharing a picture of herself sitting pretty behind a cake with the inscription; ‘Congratulations Emmy Nominee,’ via Instagram, she wrote: “I’m honored and insanely grateful for this. Thank you @onlymurdershulu for giving me Mabel.”
The 2024 Emmy Awards will hold on September 15 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
