The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has rescinded its earlier decision to boycott the planned local government election in Osun State.
The IPAC chairman in the state, Pastor Victor Akande, at a press conference in Osogbo yesterday, expressed the readiness of the political parties that make up the council to participate in the election.
Akande listed the political parties involved as the Action Alliance, African Democratic Congress, Accord Party, Social Democratic Party, African Action Congress, New Nigeria Peoples Party, Allied Peoples Party, and the Peoples Redemption Party.
Others are the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Zenith Labour Party, Action Democratic Party, Action Peoples Party, Labour Party, Boot Party, National Rescue Movement, and Young Peoples Party.
Recall that the state chapter of IPAC had, on Monday, expressed its decision to boycott the election, alleging that the chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) had concluded arrangements to recruit members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as electoral officers.

But barely 24 hours after the threat to boycott the polls, IPAC rescinded its decision and directed all the political parties that make up the council to participate in the election.
The IPAC chairman said, “After a fruitful deliberation with stakeholders in Osun State, we are glad to inform the general public that we have rescinded our earlier decision on the forthcoming local government poll.
“The OSIEC chairman, Barrister Hashim Abioye, has shown that he has a listening ear, and he is ready to work with us. We hereby wish to tell the good people of Osun State that we are ready to participate in the election.
“We have submitted our letter of intention in conducting our parties’ primary elections. We wish to appreciate Governor Ademola Adeleke and other stakeholders for their timely intervention on the matter.”
