Former England defender Rio Ferdinand has picked Vinicius Junior as the favourite to win this year’s Ballon d’Or.
He said that the Brazilian is the frontrunner to win the prestigious award as the year-old came off a solid season with Real Madrid.
Vinicius played 39 games across competitions and scored 24 times, providing 11 assists as Los Blancos won three titles.
The Brazil International, was on suspension when his country crashed out of the tournament in the hands of Uruguay in the quarterfinals.
Ferdinand thinks the Real Madrid star has the strongest credentials of any player to win this year’s Ballon d’Or.
“I don’t think anyone has done anything else to suggest that they should win the Ballon d’Or over Vini Jr..” Ferdinand according to Madrid Zone via sportskeeda.com.
“He was the most decisive player & a huge reason why Real won CL & La Liga. If Jude keeps scoring & England wins EUROs, he’s definitely going to be in the mix too.”
