Tomasky, of Shirley, New York, has been charged with first and second-degree assault, endangering a child’s welfare and criminal possession of a weapon.
He was held in custody overnight and was set to be arraigned in Central Islip at First District Court on Monday.
An investigation into the incident at the theme park in East Farmingdale had wrapped up by 8.30pm the same night, park spokesman Mark Smith told the newspaper.
The park is open to guests.
It describes itself as ‘Long Island’s Amusement Park since 1962’.
‘We welcome you and your family and friends to come enjoy a fun and exciting day on our rides, attractions, games, and more,’ states its website.
‘Adventureland has something for everyone with a variety of thrill rides, family rides, kiddie rides, and water rides.’
The park is located 30 miles east of New York City.
Another visitor, Jessie Hagelstein, of Ronkonkoma, said the crime was ‘very sad because we’re here with kids’.
‘This is a children’s amusement park, and families are just coming here with their kids to have a good time,’ Hagelstein told News 12.
