The Rivers State House of Assembly faction loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara is scheduled to screen a new commissioner-nominee Monday (today).
This development comes amidst the ongoing rift between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
The factional Assembly led by Oko-Jumbo as Speaker, issued a public announcement on Sunday inviting “Emmanuel Frank-Fubara for screening as a member of the Rivers State Executive Council.”
This marks the third commissioner screening conducted by the Fubara-aligned faction since the Assembly became divided late last year.
The public announcement was signed by the Clerk of the factional Assembly, Dr G. M. Gillis-West.

“The nominee is to come along with 12 sets of his Curriculum Vitae and the originals and photocopies of his credentials,” the statement read.
The Rivers State House of Assembly is currently operating with two factions. One led by Speaker Oko-Jumbo, supports Governor Fubara.
The other led by Martin Amaewhule remains loyal to former Governor Wike. This division stems from a long-standing feud between Fubara and Wike.
A Court of Appeal in May restrained Amaewhule and 25 others from parading themselves as members of the Assembly.
However, the Court of Appeal, Abuja, last week set aside the order and restated the 26 lawmakers who dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in October last year.
