Italy head coach, Luciano Spalletti, has taken full responsibility for their elimination from Euro 2024 in the first knockout round.
The Azzurris suffered a 2-0 defeat to Switzerland on Saturday.
Spalletti, however, admitted he did not have enough time to prepare the squad for the tournament.
“I have the responsibility,” Spalletti said at the post-match news conference.
“We failed because of my team selection, it is never down to the players.”
Spalletti also said he wished he had enough time to know the players.
All other coaches had 30 or even more matches with their teams before the tournament started, Spalletti said, adding: “I only had 10.”
