Rock music fans were partying with ‘mud up to their ankles’ at Download festival this weekend as they were met with torrential rain and ‘health hazard’ sludge.
Heavy showers turned Donington Park into a bog this year, with some revellers taking to social media to express their disgust at the conditions.
Fran Foley Winston claimed on X that the mud was ‘officially over ankles.’
She also said that the mud was a ‘serious health hazard.’
The set times for the festival, which took place from June 14-16, had to be pushed back as staff worked to improve the site’s conditions.
One woman said the festival was not ‘acceptable’ after she got stuck in a car park on the site for 9 hours and had to sleep in her van.
She said she had her ‘hazard lights on for 3 hours’, and was left on her own.

Japanese kawaii metal band ‘Babymetal’ apologised to fans after their set was cut short.
In a post shared on X, the band said: ‘To everyone who came to Download Festival to see us today,
‘Due to bad weather, we were told by the Festival to evacuate the stage and were not allowed to play our full set, thus could not share with you our intended show.
‘We are truly as disappointed as all of you who have been waiting for us.
‘But we’re sure we will be back again, right???’
American heavy metal band Pantera shared a video of the crowd rocking out to their set in wellies and rain ponchos.
Fans covered in mud can be seen crowd surfing, not letting the weather get them down.
The band captioned the video: ‘We had a great time today at Download! Here’s a glimpse of our performance. Hope you guys had fun in the mud.’
The Met Office has issued flood warnings this morning with showers expected to be heaviest in the northeast of England.
This comes after weeks of miserable weather, with Brits having faced a soggy June.

Despite the conditions, over 75,000 people turned up to the festival, which is the largest rock festival and second largest festival in the UK, just falling short to Glastonbury.
The lineup this year included Fall Out Boy, Queens of the Stone Age and Busted, attracting fans from across the UK.
