New dad Olly Murs has had a very bittersweet first Father’s Day as he spent it away from his daughter, Madi

The singer-songwriter, 40, who welcomed his little girl with wife, Amelia Tank, 32, in April, took to Instagram today, where he revealed that he is unable to spend the special day with his daughter due to work commitments.

The Troublemaker singer, who is currently on a UK tour with Take That, wrote on Instagram: ‘Dear Madi, one day you might be allowed an Instagram account and you will see this, but today is a very special day. My first Father’s Day!’

He continued to say his daughter is ‘perfect in every way’ and joked that she is a ‘little bundle of gooey nappies’ at just nine weeks old.

Murs told fans the tour is the main reason he is away from his daughter for the time being.

However, he revealed there is another important event that has taken up his schedule today – watching England’s first game in the UEFA European Football Championship, also known as the Euros.

England will play Serbia tonight, with kick off timed for 8pm.

‘I’ll make up to ya when I get home,’  he wrote before signing off with a declaration of ‘big love’ and a red heart emoji.

Murs and Tank welcomed their first child together less than one year after their extravagant three-day wedding on Osea Island in the Blackwater Estuary.

The couple first met in 2019 when Murs spotted the gym enthusiast on Instagram and began messaging her, before they organised a date. While they shared an instant spark, they called things off briefly before rekindling their romance later that year.

Murs previously dated property manager Francesca Thomas for three years until 2015, and in 2017, was rumoured to have dated TV presenter Melanie Sykes.

It comes after the singer confessed during his opening set for Take That last Friday that he feels guilty about working away from home while his daughter is so young.

‘It’s been the most craziest time. Cos obviously on one hand I’ve got this beautiful baby girl, my wife is at home looking after her with the nappies, and the sleepless nights,’ he told the crowd in a quote obtained by the Daily Mail

‘And I’m on tour with Take That. I feel guilty!’

Murs only took 48 hours off when his daughter was born and celebrated his first show, As a Daddy, in Leeds when Mady was two days old.

While appearing on stage, he told fans: ‘What’s so amazing about tonight is it’s my first show as a daddy.’

‘I’m going to try and not get emotional. Little Madison is doing really well.’

‘She’s at home with my lovely wife, and it’s a real honour to be here. I wasn’t going to leave you guys hanging tonight, I’ll rush home to see the baby,’ he added.

Luckily for the star, his tour schedule meant he was performing at London’s O2 Arena just weeks later, at the beginning of May. His wife and daughter attended his show, where they shared some adorable backstage moments.

He also managed to squeeze in a day off, which he spent keeping Madi close as he cradled her and beamed from ear to ear.
