Almost 17 million people in the UK subscribe to Netflix, with millions more in their households tuning in to enjoy Bridgerton, Selling Sunset, Baby Reindeer and more.
For some however, that joy could end abruptly on July 24 – because their TVs will no longer be compatible.
Sony has announced on its website that 42 televisions from the 2014 BRAVIA range will not support the Netflix app from next month due to ‘technical limitations’. After July 24 it will be removed from the Apps menu.
All 42 TVs are listed below, but before you rush out and buy a new one, don’t despair. Older TVs can still be used to watch Netflix using a dongle, such as an Amazon Fire Stick or Roku Streaming Stick.
These plug into the HDMI port on the back of your TV and use the WiFi to stream content from a wide range of apps – including Netflix.
Plus, at around £30, they’re better for your pocket and the planet than buying a whole new television.

To find out if you might be in the market, check your TV against the list below. If you don’t know the model off the top of your head (and who does?!), you should be able to find it written somewhere on the casing.
If you can’t see it, use the remote to find it in settings.
Which Sony TVs will Netflix stop working on?
Here is the full list of Sony TVs that will no longer support the Netflix app from July 24. If you’re unsure which series your model belongs to, it’s hidden within the model number. For example, a KD-65S9005B is in the S9 series, and a KD-49X8505B is from the X85 series.
