Katsina govt allocates ₦50bn for water supply projects across 20 LGAs

The Katsina State Government has allocated ₦50 billion for various water supply projects across 20 local government areas as part of its 2025 development plans.

The Managing Director of the Katsina State Water Board, Mr. Tukur Hassan-Tingilin, announced this on Tuesday during the inauguration of the grievance redress committee for the Nigeria Sustainable Urban and Rural Water Supply, Sanitation, and Hygiene (NG-SURWASH) initiative in the state.

He stated that the funding for these water projects is embedded in the state’s ₦682.2 billion 2025 budget and aims to provide sustainable access to potable water for residents in both rural and urban areas of the 20 targeted local governments.

Hassan-Tingilin highlighted that the state government had already spent ₦20 billion on water and sanitation projects across 10 local government areas in the 2024 fiscal year.

“For 2025, His Excellency Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has allocated over ₦50 billion to ensure sustainability and the provision of clean water across 20 local governments in Katsina State,” he added.

He also emphasized the importance of the grievance redress committee, which has been established to address community-related issues concerning ongoing SURWASH projects.

As communities are the primary beneficiaries of these initiatives, Hassan-Tingilin urged the committee members to prioritize the sustainability and proper management of the projects to ensure their long-term success.
