Manchester City are on the verge of agreeing a €50 million (£41.8m) deal with Lens to sign Abdukodir Khusanov, according to reports in France.
Pep Guardiola has been keen for City to sign defensive reinforcements in the January transfer window and Khusanov is now closing in on a move to the Premier League champions.
According to RMC Sport, City and Lens are expected to finalise an agreement on Friday, while Khusanov has not taken part in training with the team.
The report adds that the Uzbekistan international has already agreed to join City.
Lens will be making a significant profit on Khusanov having signed him for just €100,000 (£85,000) from Belarusian side Energetik-BGU in 2023.
Since moving to France, Khusanov has quickly established himself as one of the best central defenders in Ligue 1.
Speaking last weekend, Lens’ general director, Pierre Dreossi, suggested that Khusanov would be sold this month.
‘If he has to leave and if the offers are interesting, it is above all to find an economic balance,’ he told DAZN.
‘I hope that we will return to a level that corresponds more to RC Lens with this sale, but without having lesser ambitions.’
City are also working on a deal to sign Eintracht Frankfurt’s versatile attacker Omar Marmoush.
The 25-year-old has scored 13 goals in the Bundesliga this season with only Harry Kane scoring more for Bayern Munich.
Eintracht Frankfurt are demanding an €80m (£67m) fee for the Egypt international.
