Ex-Kano SSG, Abdullahi Bichi, threatens to expose political betrayals

The recently dismissed Secretary to the Kano State Government, Abdullahi Bichi, has made explosive claims about the political figures he once worked alongside, threatening to reveal evidence that he says will expose them for deceit and betrayal.

Bichi, who was removed from office in December 2024, returned from a trip to Saudi Arabia this week and addressed his supporters in a video that quickly went viral on Friday. He hinted at having sensitive materials—including documents, videos, and voice notes—that would reveal the true nature of the political figures he once considered allies.

“I left office in peace, but don’t mistake my silence for weakness,” Bichi said in the video. “At the right time, the truth will come out. I have the proof—documents, videos, voice notes. Everything will be laid bare.”

Bichi’s statements have raised eyebrows across the political landscape of Kano. His fallout with Governor Abba Yusuf and his former mentor, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has been well-documented, but this latest development brings the tension to a head.

Bichi’s strained relationship with Kano’s political elite began to unravel publicly in October 2024 when he was suspended from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP). His suspension, along with that of the then Transportation Commissioner, Muhammad Diggol, followed allegations of internal discord.

Both men were accused of undermining the party’s unity by orchestrating efforts to drive a wedge between Governor Yusuf and Kwankwaso, two prominent figures in Kano’s political scene. The NNPP leadership, led by Kano North Chairperson Sulaiman Dambatta, stated that they had received multiple complaints from ward and local government leaders regarding Bichi and Diggol’s actions.

Hashimu Dungurawa, the State NNPP Chairman, explained the party’s decision to suspend the two officials, emphasizing that the suspension was a result of disrespect toward the party and its leadership.

“The party cannot tolerate actions that undermine its leadership and structure,” Dungurawa said at the time. “Formal complaints were received, and after verifying these allegations, the decision to suspend them was inevitable.”

Bichi’s latest threat to expose what he describes as “masters of betrayal” has sent shockwaves through Kano’s political corridors. His cryptic remarks suggest that he is ready to unleash a wave of revelations that could shake up the city’s politics.
