The Niger State Government has officially launched the Armed Forces Emblem Appeal Fund for the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration.
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago performed the ceremony at the Council Chamber, Government House, Minna, and announced a contribution of N50 million from the state government.
Bago acknowledged the sacrifices of Nigerian fallen heroes in maintaining peace and unity, assuring that his administration will continue to support the Nigerian armed forces.
He also promised continuous support for the Nigerian Legion in the state, stating that the N50 million appeal fund will help address some of the Legion’s challenges.
Veteran Mahmud Ahmed Baba, Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Niger State Chapter, expressed gratitude to the governor for his consistent support.
He revealed that the N20 million received from the state government during the 2024 emblem appeal fund enabled the Legion to secure a permanent office named after Governor Umaru Bago.
The funds also catered to veterans, widows, and families of fallen heroes across the state’s 25 local government areas.
The event concluded with the emblem decoration of Governor Bago, Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba, and other top government functionaries.
