The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has alleged that he and his family have received over 200 explicit death threats following his comments about Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi.
The controversy arose after Obi accused Morka of issuing a veiled threat to his life during a Sunday interview on Arise Television. Addressing the claims in another interview on Arise News on Wednesday, Morka revealed the extent of the threats he has received since Obi’s allegations.
“Peter Obi’s allegations that my words in that interview threatened his life have triggered serious consequences,” Morka said. “As of now, I have documented 400 threats, about 200 of which are explicit death threats. These are written threats that I will be submitting to law enforcement agencies.”
Morka detailed the severity of the threats, stating that they included graphic descriptions of violence. “In these messages, individuals have detailed how they plan to harm me—threatening to shoot me, behead me, and carry out other gruesome acts. This is not mere rhetoric. It has even extended to direct threats against some members of my family. These are explicit and graphic threats, not vague insinuations,” he added.

The APC spokesman strongly denied making any comments that could be interpreted as threatening Obi’s life, labeling the allegations baseless. “This entire situation is baseless and cannot be attributed to me. I did not threaten Peter Obi in any way. Those issuing these threats are acting on their own, but I trust that law enforcement will respond swiftly to bring them to justice,” Morka stated.
The controversy began after Morka, during the Sunday interview, accused Obi of “crossing the line” in his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying the Labour Party candidate “deserved whatever came his way.” The remarks sparked outrage, with many interpreting them as inflammatory.
Former Vice President and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar condemned Morka’s comments, urging the APC to apologize to Obi and Nigerians. “The language used was inflammatory and disgraceful. Such rhetoric has no place in our democracy,” Atiku said in a statement.
The Labour Party also reacted strongly, issuing a seven-day ultimatum to President Tinubu to reprimand Morka for his remarks. Marcel Ngogbehei, Director-General of the Labour Party Directorate of Mobilisation and Integration, described Morka’s comments as part of a targeted campaign against Obi. “This is unacceptable, and we demand accountability,” Ngogbehei stated in a release on Tuesday.
