The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, has expressed outrage over the killing of its Katsina State chairman by bandits in Katsina on Saturday along with the abduction of his two wives.
Chairman of the association in Kano State, retired Captain Abdullahi Bakoji Adamu made this known in an interview with Daily Post on Tuesday.
“This killing has sent a wave of fear and apprehension into the hearts of the leaders of the association, who would now carry out their jobs with fears of how this will affect the protection of herders’ interests.”
He added, “The killing could lead to more violence through acts of revenge by relatives or supporters of the deceased.” He called on the authorities to ensure that those responsible for this heinous act are apprehended and brought to justice to face the consequences of their actions.
As a security expert, Bakoji suggested increasing the number of security personnel and providing adequate equipment in areas facing security challenges in the country.
“Currently, even community leaders are not spared from the activities of armed criminals, which will further demoralize the masses and negatively impact the economy.” he lamented.
On Saturday 4th January, bandits attacked the Katsina State chairman of Miyetti Allah, Ahmadu Surajo, in Mai Rana village, Kusada LocaMiyetti Allah, Ahmadu Surajo, in Mai Rana village, Kusada Local Government Area, killed him, and abducted his two wives, whose whereabouts remain unknown.
The Police Command in Katsina State said it has deployed its officers to trail the perpetrators and rescue the two wives of the deceased that were abducted.
