Liverpool are still expecting their Premier League match against Leicester City to go ahead on Boxing Day despite the thick fog on Merseyside.

Arne Slot’s side host the Foxes at Anfield for Boxing Day’s 8pm Premier League kick-off.

However, concerns over visibility inside the stadium have been raised due to the dense fog in the area.

Reports that a 4pm pitch inspection is taking place at Anfield have been dismissed, however, Liverpool have urged supporters travelling to the stadium to allow for extra time on their journey.

A statement from Liverpool’s supporter services read: ‘If you are coming to the match today, please ensure you set off earlier than usual due to foggy conditions in and around Anfield stadium. Please take care when travelling.’

Earlier on Boxing Day, Tranmere Rovers’ League Two match against Accrington Stanley was postponed due to the foggy weather on Merseyside.

The match at Prenton Park was due to start at 3pm but was called off shortly after 2pm.
