Newcastle host Brentford on Wednesday night in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup, in a fantastic opportunity for both clubs as they target silverware.
The Bees beat the Magpies 4-2 in west London earlier this month in the Premier League, so they will be confident, but Newcastle have home advantage this time round and are coming off a 4-0 win over Leicester City.
Eddie Howe says his side are desperate to be the first Newcastle team to win a major trophy in 69 years.
‘The willingness has been there from other [Newcastle] teams, but we want to be the one who gets over the line and to achieve something special,’ he said.
‘But winning these competitions is difficult, we won’t take anything for granted. We know if we can hit correct levels of performance then we can be a match for anyone.’
Bees boss Thomas Frank said of the clash: ‘We will face a team that will come flying out for a late kick-off under the lights. They will take no prisoners and will go after us – but we are ready.’
