NGX: MRS Oil, WAPIC lead gainers as equities market crosses 100K basis points mark

The Nigerian equities market crossed the 100,000 basis points at the close of trading on Tuesday.

After five hours of trading today, the equity capitalisation rose by N76 billion from N60.57 trillion to N60.65:trillion.

This followed a surge in the share prices of stocks like MRS, WAPIC, and CAVERTON amongst others on the trading floor.

The benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) increased to 100,050.94 from 99,922.63 points recorded the previous day.

The market breadth was positive as 23 stocks advanced and 26 stocks declined, while 71 stocks remained unchanged in 9,578 deals.

MRS, WAPIC, and CAVERTON led other gainers with 10%, 10% and 9.68% growth each in share prices to close at N145.20, N1.54, and N2.38 from the previous N132.00, N1.40 and N2.17 per share.

CUTIX, TANTALIZER, and DAAR COMMUNICATION led other price decliners with 10%, 9.73%, and 7.02% decline each in share prices to close at N2.25, N1.67, and N0.53 from the previous N2.50, N1.85 and N0.57 per share.

On the volume index, E-TRANZACT led trading with 70 million shares in 30 deals followed by TRANSCO HOT which traded 69 million shares in 29 deals.

OANDO traded 26 million shares in 1,074 deals.

On the value index, TRANSCO HOT traded stocks worth N7.4 billion in 29 deals followed by ARADEL which traded equities worth N6.5 billion in 653 deals.

OANDO traded shares valued at N1.8 Billion in 1,074 deals.
