FUOYE SSANU chairman, Secretary suspended over allegation against VC

Mr. Oluwaseun Benjamin Faleye, the Chairman and Mrs. Ayomikun Oluwaseun Aluko, the Secretary of the Federal University of Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Chapter of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) have been suspended for signing the communique of the association’s meeting.

The meeting was held on November 25, 2024.

SSANU had accused FUOYE VC, Prof Abayomi Sunday Fasina, of sexually harassing and victimizing the university’s staff members.

They alleged that there was audio evidence of the VC begging some married women who are senior staff of the University for sex.

The Vice Chancellor had also earlier denied the allegations. He was also reported to have been cleared by a police investigation.

The suspension letter read in part, “Your written representation dated 6″ December, 2024 has been reviewed by the University and it was found unsatisfactory and inadequate to exculpate you from the acts of misconduct identified in the query under reference.

“In line with the Regulations Governing the Conditions of Service of Senior Staff in the University, the Governing Council, has directed that your appointment be suspended from the University with immediate effect and shall subsist, until and pending the determination of the case against you.

“Accordingly, you are hereby suspended from the University. During the period of your suspension you shall be on half pay, ie, with immediate effect.

“Consequently, you are directed to handover all University property in your possession to the Head of your Department immediately.

“Your Staff Identity Card should be submitted to the Personnel Affairs Officer accordingly.

“You are also advised to stay away from the premises of the University, except otherwise expressed in writing.”
