Piers Morgan would ‘love’ Arsenal to sign Cole Palmer from Chelsea and has described the former Manchester City star as a ‘brilliant’ player.

Palmer, capped 11 times by England, has established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League since he swapped the Etihad for Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2023 in a deal worth £40m.

The 22-year-old, who can be deployed as an attacking midfielder or winger, has conjured up 36 goals and 21 assists across 62 games for the Blues.

Palmer was crowned Premier League Young Player of the Season last term after breaking Eden Hazard’s club record for the most goal involvements in a single campaign.

There is no chance Palmer will leave Chelsea in the foreseeable future, given he is happy at the club and under a long contract until 2033.

But that hasn’t stopped Gunners superfan Morgan – a broadcaster, journalist and media personality – from dreaming about Palmer at Arsenal.

‘Cole Palmer is brilliant,’ Morgan posted on X after the Chelsea star scored twice in the 4-3 victory over Tottenham on Sunday. ‘Would love him at Arsenal.’

Morgan has also aimed a dig at Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta following their 1-1 draw at Fulham on Saturday.

The 59-year-old is frustrated that the Spaniard still hasn’t recruited a new striker and has urged the Arsenal boss to correct it in the January window.

‘Terrible result,’ Morgan posted after the north Londoners dropped two points at Craven Cottage.

‘Arteta’s refusal to buy a top striker is yet again coming back to haunt us. Get your chequebook out in January @m8arteta – please!’

Last month, Arteta rejected the suggestion that Arsenal are missing an out-and-out centre-forward in the mould of Newcastle’s Alexander Isak.

Meanwhile, William Gallas has implored Arsenal to sign a new striker but fears his old club have no chance of winning the race to recruit Sporting Lisbon sensation Viktor Gyokeres.
